Introduction:
Recently, the outbreak of the coronavirus has swept across the globe, sounding the alarm about international environmental governance again. The world has experienced quite a few viral infectious diseases in less than 20 years, including SARS in 2003 and the coronavirus, the lethality of which has posed a serious threat to our livelihoods. The blind pursuit of economic growth and personal pleasures has caused unprecedented destruction to the ecology of earth. The coronavirus is having a huge impact on every sector of society. Having experienced the outbreak of the coronavirus, people’s reflections on environmental crises have reached unprecedented levels, which may bring a new opportunity to reshape the overall sustainable development pattern. With the support of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, the Macau Fair & Trade Association, Guangdong and Macao Federation of Industry and Commerce, and MICE Alliance of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area have jointly organized the "Forum and Exhibition on International Environmental Crisis Management", aiming at an in-depth summary and promotion of China's experience of environmental governance and crisis response, so as to continuously improve the response methods of and solutions to environmental crisis management, promote the cooperation among cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to cope with environmental crises including infectious diseases, wildfires, floods, windstorm disasters, insect pests, etc., and improve citizens, enterprises and government departments’ awareness of epidemic prevention and natural disasters. The forum will bring together experts and well-known scholars in the field of international environmental governance to discuss the underlying causes of environmental crises and solutions. Leveraging the strength of Macao as an international platform, the forum invites professionals in various related fields to communicate on the same topics to comprehensively integrate professional resources.
