2024 MOROCCO TEXTILE EXPO REPORT
The 2024 MOROCCO TEXTILE EXPO in Casablanca, has ended at the end of April. It is a prominent international trade fair dedicated to the textile and apparel industry in Africa. It provides a platform for manufacturers, suppliers, buyers, and industry professionals to showcase their products, explore business opportunities, and stay updated with the latest trends and innovations in the textile sector.
This year, our booth was located in the designated B2B area of the International Fair of Casablanca, situated on the far left, near entrance number 3. While the mornings during the exhibition did not see the level of activity we had hoped for, we nonetheless found them to be productive. We observed a steady presence of Chinese suppliers and visitors attending the event.
While the exhibition did not yield the desired results, the organizers acknowledged that they are still in the process of expanding the event. They mentioned that the lingering impact of the COVID-19 pandemic had slowed their progress. Several other exhibitors also commented on the lower than expected attendance at the exhibition, although they did not express overt dissatisfaction, likely due to the affordable booth prices.
Despite these challenges, it can be noted that the market demand for Chinese products was present at this exhibition, even if the complete recovery of activities has not yet been achieved due to the aftermath of the health crisis. The organizers remain confident in the future progression of this event.
Hall overview.
After carefully reviewing multiple reports, it has come to our attention that the low visitor turnout experienced by the Morocco textile exhibition is not an isolated occurrence. This issue seems to be prevalent across various exhibitions in Africa, where efforts to promote the culture of trade shows are still underway.
It is worth noting that the textile industry holds significant popularity in the northern part of Africa, particularly in Morocco, where it produces an impressive one billion items annually. This prominence of the textile industry is deeply ingrained within the cultural fabric of the region. Therefore, it is evident that the challenges faced by the exhibition are not directly related to the industry itself.
Despite the ongoing growth in exhibition promotion, Africa continues to be an incredibly promising and open market for China. The presence of over 10,000 Chinese firms operating throughout the continent is a testament to the opportunities it offers. Since 2005, the value of Chinese business in Africa has exceeded $2 trillion, with a current investment portfolio of about $300 billion. Additionally, Africa has surpassed Asia as the largest market for China's overseas construction projects.
Given these impressive statistics, it is strongly advised not to let the findings of this particular report hinder or halt promotion efforts in the African continent. The vast potential and economic significance of Africa make it a market that cannot be overlooked or underestimated. The continued engagement and exploration of business opportunities in Africa will only serve to strengthen the ties between China and the continent, benefiting both parties involved.
