SEMICON SEA 2022 CELEBRATES PENANG’S 50 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF MANUFACTURING EXCELLENCE
PENANG, TUESDAY, 24 MAY 2022 – SEMICON Southeast Asia 2022 (SEMICON SEA 2022), the region’s premier event for the global electronics manufacturing and design supply chain, will be returning to Penang from June 21 – 23 and will welcome in-person delegates and attendees for the first time in over 2 years. The event will be held at the Setia SPICE Arena & Convention Centre and is now open for registration.
Themed Forward as One – Building A Resilient and Sustainable Electronics Supply Chain in Southeast Asia, SEMICON SEA 2022 will gather experts from around the world for insights into the industry’s most pressing issues, including topics pertaining to the environment, sustainability, and supply chain resilience.
President of SEMI Southeast Asia, Ms Linda Tan said, “Against the backdrop of global supply chain disruptions, the semiconductor industry has had to take a long look at its entire value chain and find solutions that would ensure business resilience and agility to adapt to rapidly evolving global circumstances along the way. SEMICON SEA 2022 therefore provides a timely and relevant platform from which industry players may gather to find solutions through dialogue, knowledge-exchange, and partnerships.”

Driven by its position as the country’s leading electrical and electronics (E&E) hub, Penang has accounted for over 40% and 50% of the country’s annual trade surplus and electrical and electronics (E&E) exports respectively since 2018,” said Dato’ Seri Lee Kah Choon, Special Investment Advisor to the Chief Minister of Penang.
“As one of the strategic partners in SEMICON Southeast Asia 2022, InvestPenang will be hosting several events over three days, demonstrating Penang’s transformation and core competencies along its journey towards 50 years of industrialisation,” he added.
Featuring more than 250 companies with 400 booths, the 3-day event is expected to attract over 10,000 attendees. Not-to-be-missed highlights include:
· CxO Summit on “Building a Resilient & Sustainable Electronics Supply Chain in SEA”.
· InvestPenang’s Seminar on “Diverse Capabilities of the Homegrown Companies”.
· SMART & Sustainable Manufacturing Tour to showcase industries’ technology and solutions.
· A series of curated technical forums, including market and industry trends, smart enterprise, advanced packaging, sustainability and advanced product testing.
· Exclusive tours to selected advanced factories in Penang’s Batu Kawan Industrial Park.
In addition, InvestPenang also collaborates with SEMI Southeast Asia on this year’s Workforce and Talent Development Pavilion, which has over 70 career booths and is targeted to host about 600 university students in Malaysia. The pavilion will also feature various talks by the industry leaders in inspiring university students, career booth tour and resume clinics to assist student how to make their job profile more impactful and marketable.
