Indonesia's Infrastructure and Mining Potential in 2022
Indonesia is focusing on infrastructure and social programs worth $97 bn for the next five years to rescue Southeast Asia's largest economy from the coronavirus pandemic fallout. The government plans to spend IDR 571 trillion (US$40 bn) on the period of 2020 – 2024 for the development of transport infrastructure in Jakarta by 2029. Moreover, in May 2019, the government announced their plans to invest IDR6 quadrillion (US$412 bn) to develop country's overall infrastructures which include transportation, industrial, energy and housing. And add 430GW of new power plant capacity by 2050.
It is expected Indonesian construction industry to stabilize and grow at an annual average rate of 5.0 - 5.5% between 2022 and 2025, supported by investments on the development of overall infrastructures. Not only construction industry, it is expected mining investments to reach US$7.75 billion this year, where the highest projected amount is between 2015 and 2024, supported by smelter development projects.
APBI (Indonesian Coal Mining Association) is optimistic that the demand and consumption of coal in 2022 will increase which will recover global economy from COVID-19 pandemic. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is projecting an increase in coal production to range from 637-664 million tons in 2022. Of this amount, it is estimated that the domestic industry needs 190 million tons. The rest is for the export market, which is still high.
The aggressive of infrastructure and the brighter of mining sector will drive the huge demand for construction and mining equipment, technologies and services in Indonesia.

Indonesia now ranks 4th in the number of COVID-19 vaccinations in the world on January 4, 2022, after the People's Republic of China, India, and the United States. The government is targeting the national vaccination coverage of 208.2 million people to be completed in March or April 2022. And Indonesia is now ready for booster vaccination starting January 2022.
